Virtual EMDR Therapy in California

Finding clarity in life’s currents.

Welcome

When life feels overwhelming, it can seem like you’re getting dragged downstream—swept up in emotions, old patterns, or pressure to hold it all together. But like a creek, our thoughts and feelings are always moving. They rise, flow, and pass.

At Creekside Therapy, we’ll sit together beside that current—not trying to stop it, but learning how to observe it without getting pulled in. Healing means finding steadiness, even when the water gets rough—and trusting that you can meet whatever comes with clarity and strength.

Elizabeth Zimmerman, LMFT, an EMDR therapist in California

Elizabeth Zimmerman

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Hi, I’m Elizabeth Zimmerman, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of Creekside Therapy. For the past 20 years, I’ve had the honor of walking alongside adults as they navigate the complexities of healing—first in community mental health where I worked with a wide range of mental health concerns, and now through my private practice.

My work is grounded in compassion, authenticity, and respect for the unique path each person is on. I believe that therapy isn’t about "fixing" what's broken—it's about helping you reconnect with your inner strength, your resilience, and your capacity for growth.

While EMDR is a powerful tool I often use to help clients heal from trauma and emotional pain, I also draw from CBT, mindfulness practices, relational therapy, and somatic awareness. Every person is different, and I tailor our work together based on what will support you best.

My style is warm, collaborative, and gently challenging when needed. I strive to create a space where you can feel safe to be fully yourself—no rushing, no judgment, just steady support for your journey forward.

Outside of therapy, you’ll often find me hiking, painting in nature, or spending time with my dogs. Being outdoors helps me recharge and stay connected—and I believe, like many of my clients, that healing often starts in the simplest, most grounded moments.

My Approach

Therapy with me is active, creative, and personalized.
While EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a core tool I use to help process trauma and stuck emotional patterns, it's not the only one. Depending on your needs, I also integrate:

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to challenge unhelpful thoughts and build new coping strategies

  • Mindfulness-based techniques to support regulation and presence

  • Art therapy tools to tap into nonverbal expression and self-discovery

  • Strength-based approaches to help you connect with your resilience, not just your pain

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model. I’ll meet you where you are and help you move forward in a way that fits your goals, your personality, and your pace.

Above all, therapy with me is guided by four values:

  • Humor, because laughter can be healing.

  • Love, because we all need connection.

  • Authenticity, because truth-telling opens the door to change.

  • Courage, because doing the work of healing takes guts—and you're not doing it alone.
